On the 15th May 2019, members of our Toyota team as well as various Central Services team members took to two wheels to take on a mighty 50 mile bike ride from York to Whitby in order to raise money for the Island Charity York.
Our team set off from the Toyota York centre at approximately 7am and had various stop off points including Howsham, Thornton Le Dale and The Hole of Horcum. Finishing at 12.54 in Whitby, our team decided to cycle back to York, doubling the length of the bike ride to a mighty 100 miles.
Our team was accompanied by two support vans and some Marketing team members, providing assistance and capturing the day.
With all fundraising efforts going to the Island Charity York, our team set a goal of raising £2,500. We are extremely pleased to say that not only have we reached our target but we have also exceeded it. For this reason, we will be keeping our Just Giving page open for the next few weeks, hoping to raise as much as we can for the charity.
About The Island Charity York Mentoring Scheme
The Island York are a children's charity committed to improving vulnerable children's lives in the Yorkshire area. The charity provide mentoring and unique programmes to young people in order to build their confidence and unlock their potential as well as giving them the time and space needed for them to thrive. This not only improves the lives of the children involved but also gives a boost to the local community by reducing anti-social and criminal behaviour. The charity matches their participants with carefully selected volunteer mentors who make a commitment to meet regularly with those children over the course of a year. The charity provides training and support for those volunteers to ensure that they are able to support these vulnerable children.
